Santander Arena, SPAC rank prominently on Pollstar charts [Spotlight]

ASM Global-managed Santander Arena and Santander Performing Arts Center have concluded the 2023-2024 calendar year with record-breaking achievements, securing prominent placements on Pollstar's prestigious year-end Top Grossing Charts and Top Ticket Sales Charts.

Both venues surpassed previous performance benchmarks, highlighting their continued success in attracting high-profile events and enthusiastic audiences.

Santander Arena ranked 70th among U.S. arenas in gross ticket sales and 66th in total tickets sold, with a total of 213,728 tickets sold during the reporting period of Nov. 16, 2023, to Nov. 13, 2024.

The venue hosted a diverse range of sold-out performances from world-renowned artists across multiple genres, including Lil Wayne, Bert Kreischer and Don Omar, among others.

This calendar year also saw the venue host back-to-back performances from artists for the first time as Aventura sold out two shows at the Santander Arena in May and Pierce The Veil returned to the venue in November for back-to-back sold out performances.

Similarly, the historic Santander Performing Arts Center secured notable rankings, placing 103rd among U.S. theaters in gross ticket sales and 102nd in total tickets sold.

The venue sold a 59,023 tickets during the same reporting period, reflecting its continued appeal as a premier destination for live entertainment.

Auditions

Reading Community Players is holding two open auditions for a modern farce and a classic radio show. Actors with all levels of talents and experience are encouraged to attend.

The comical season opener, “Play On” by Rick Abbot, tells the hilarious story of a community theater group trying desperately to produce a world-premiere script. Auditions are next Sunday from 12:30-3:30 p.m. and Dec. 30 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. These tryouts will be held at Friedens Lutheran Church, 1076 Memorial Highway (Route 73) in Oley..

Director Megan Martin is looking for three men, four women and three actors of any gender. “Play On” performs on March 14-16 at the WCR Center for the Arts in Reading.

A Roaring '20s classic follows with “The Great Gatsby: A Live Radio Play” by Joe Landry. Auditions will take place on Jan. 12 and 13 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Room 120 in the Perkins Student Center at Penn State Berks in Spring Township.

Director Patrick A. O’Neill is casting a small company of at least eight actors to play over 25 characters. “Gatsby” will run from May 16-18 at the Perkins Auditorium at Penn State Berks.
