A nonprofit is gearing up for its annual ride Saturday at Classic Harley-Davidson in Bern Township to promote cancer awareness.
My Gut Instinct has once again partnered with Classic Harley-Davidson's Chrome Angels Riding Club to host the third annual Undy 500 event in which participants do a lap around an obstacle course on their wheels of choice in their underwear to promote understanding and raise funds for those suffering from colorectal cancer.
The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 983 James Drive.
Colorectal cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death among men and women in the United States, affecting about 150,000 people each year — one-third of whom will die of the disease. That's largely because 1 in 3 Americans, even those with insurance, are not screened when recommended.
Officials from My Gut Instinct are hoping to change that statistic. The nonprofit will show attendees of the event how easy it is to screen for colorectal cancer by giving out free tests to use at home.
In addition to the screening information, My Gut Instinct will be giving participants a chance to win prizes. And for those who have never been screened and own a motorcycle theywill receive a free oil change for their bike if they commit to getting their first colonoscopy this year.
The event will also feature live music and food to purchase.
