Mitchell Darcourt has announced he will seek his first full term in office.
The Spring Township Republican has served as Berks County’s treasurer since 2024, having been elected to fill the remainder of the term of Dennis Adams following his retirement. Darcourt is the first candidate to announce a run for the office in 2025.
The county treasurer is responsible for collecting taxes and managing county bank accounts; issuing dog and hunting licenses; administering the state small games of chance law; and participating on the county pension board.

“I am proud to officially announce my candidacy for reelection,” he said. “With a steadfast commitment to innovation, transparency and serving the residents of Berks County, I hope to continue the strong foundation of progress that we have built during my time in office.”
Darcourt said that during his short time in office he has worked diligently to modernize financial processes, enhance accessibility and provide exceptional service to county residents.
“Under my leadership, we have implemented technology-driven solutions, streamlined operations and developed services that better meet the needs of both individuals and businesses,” he said. “These efforts have positioned our office as a leader in innovation and service delivery.”
But, Darcourt said, there is much more to accomplish.
He said he hopes to build on the successes his office has achieved and to address future challenges with forward-thinking strategies.
“My focus remains on ensuring that the treasurer’s office continues to lead with integrity, accountability and efficiency,” he said. “The people of Berks County deserve a treasurer who will continue to advance modern solutions and responsive service.”
The county treasurer serves a four-year term.
The primary is May 20.
