A local thrift store will celebrate Earth Day by hosting a donation day on Saturday that will benefit homeless families.
The donation day will take place at OppShop, a retail thrift store operated by the Opportunity House shelter, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Donations will be accepted at the rear of the store, which is located at 3045 Fifth Street Highway in Muhlenberg Township.
OppShop accepts donations of clothing, furniture, housewares, books, DVDs and CDs as part of Opportunity House's Reuse & Recycle program. The program employs formerly homeless clients to process donations at its warehouse in Reading and has so far diverted over a million pounds of waste from landfills since its inception in 2023.
